HOW 2021 BECAME THE YEAR OF THE BITCOIN’S FIRST BASEBALL TEAM
Patrick O’Sullivan is the Perth Heat’s Chief Bitcoin Officer. To our knowledge, Patrick is the first CBO to be hired by an organisation.
So what’s the role of the CBO?
“As with any emerging sector it comes down to having a strong grasp of multiple different fields and an ability to be able to quickly synthesize complex topics and translate them into easily understandable chunks of information that I can pass on to the leadership team so as to best move the team forward,” Patrick said.
“A forward thinking mindset and the ability to spot divergences in new information is the most critical component for day to day success for a CBO as the Bitcoin landscape is in a constant state of flux. The ability to reason from first principles is a skill I rely on heavily to make the best use of my time when dealing with the organisation and our roadmap for the future.
“I have yet to come across a dedicated CBO but as other organisations begin to see the writing on the wall I think the position will become vital to companies around the world. Bitcoin is complex and that is a strength and a weakness.
“The role of the CBO is to bring decision makers up to speed and ensure the business is in a position of strength going forward.
“If companies want to tap into the full potential of the biggest wealth transfer in 5000 years they would do well to start trying to attract talent now. From the conversations we have had with other companies interested in following our lead I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the number of announcements in the coming months.”
Anthony Pompliano is an entrepreneur and investor. He has built and sold numerous companies, ran Product and Growth teams at Facebook, and manages a portfolio valued at more than $500 million in early-stage tech companies.
