Term 4 at a Glance
Option 1: Sundays at NSR Hire Ballpark
10 weeks, full term. Cost: $595
- Weeks 1–5: Sunday mornings, 9:00am – 11:00am (11 October – 8 November)
- Weeks 6–10: Sunday afternoons, 4:00pm – 6:00pm (15 November – 13 December)
Please note that session times move from mornings to afternoons from Sunday 15 November.
Option 2: Wednesdays at Alkimos Baseball Club
5 weeks, half term. Cost: $295
- Wednesday evenings, 4:30pm – 6:30pm (14 October – 11 November)
- Plus an invitation to the Academy testing day on Sunday 11 October @NSR Hire Ballpark

What Term 4 Looks Like
Term 4 runs alongside the club season, so the program shifts toward a strength and conditioning focus while keeping baseball-specific work in every session. The aim is to build athletic foundations and durability without competing with players’ club games and training.
Each 2-hour session covers:
- Baseball skills: structured skill progression and position-specific instruction
- Game approach: decision-making, situational awareness and tactical understanding
- Strength & conditioning: movement quality, coordination and injury risk reduction
The term finishes with an inter-academy scrimmage day.

Who It’s For
The Academy is for motivated players aged 9–14 who want to improve their skills, game understanding and overall athleticism. It isn’t limited to “elite” players. Players need a basic grounding in baseball through tee ball or club participation, and the program supports a range of abilities, with each athlete progressing at the right pace.
And it’s meant to be fun.
Why the Academy Exists
Western Australia has a proud baseball culture, built by strong local clubs and dedicated volunteers. But between club competition and representative programs, development isn’t always consistent. Structured progression, measurable feedback and professional standards can arrive late, or not at all.
The Perth Heat Academy gives young players a clearer pathway, with coaching aligned to the methods and expectations of the Perth Heat, without the pressure that often comes with “high performance.” It’s not about rushing kids into elite sport. It’s about building good habits early, building confidence through clear feedback, and supporting long-term growth.
For the Heat, the Academy is an investment in the future of WA baseball: closer ties with grassroots clubs, consistent coaching across the state, healthy early talent identification, and a bigger, more connected baseball community.

FAQs
When does Term 4 start?
Sunday 11 October at NSR Hire Ballpark. The Wednesday program at Alkimos Baseball Club starts on 14 October, and Alkimos players are also invited to the testing day on Sunday 11 October.
Why do the Sunday times change halfway through the term?
Sunday sessions run 9:00–11:00am for the first five weeks, then move to 4:00–6:00pm from 15 November. This is to account for the ABL season using the facility in the later half of the term. Make sure you note the change in your calendar.
Can my child play club baseball at the same time?
Yes. Term 4 is built to work around the club season, with a stronger focus on strength and conditioning that supports, rather than adds to, players’ club workload.
What about other sports?
We actively encourage multi-sport participation. Well-rounded athletes develop better movement patterns, lower their injury risk and build greater long-term performance capacity.
What experience does my child need?
A basic understanding of baseball through tee ball or club participation. The program caters for a range of abilities.
How many sessions are in Term 4?
10 Sunday sessions at NSR Hire Ballpark, or 5 Wednesday sessions at Alkimos Baseball Club (plus the testing day on Sunday 11 October), as well as the end-of-term scrimmage day.
Is the Academy only running in Term 4?
No. The Academy runs across Terms 2–4 with weekly sessions each term.
Places Are Limited
To keep coaching quality high and athlete-to-coach ratios right, intake is capped in each age group. Term 4 starts Sunday 11 October.
