The Future of WA Baseball Starts With Stronger Foundations

Western Australia has a proud baseball culture, built through strong local clubs and dedicated volunteers.

Yet between club competition and representative programs, development is not always consistent. Exposure to structured progression, measurable feedback and professional standards can come late, or not at all.

The Perth Heat Academy has been created to provide a clearer development pathway. It offers young athletes access to structured coaching aligned to the methodology and expectations of the Perth Heat, without the pressure or stigma often attached to “high performance.”

This is not about accelerating children into elite sport. It is about establishing better habits earlier, building confidence through clarity, and supporting long-term growth in the right environment.

Program Overview

Launch: Term 2, 2026
Duration: Terms 2–4

It allows the Heat to:

  • Strengthen alignment with grassroots baseball across WA
  • Provide consistency in methodology across the state
  • Identify and nurture talent early, in a healthy way
  • Build stronger connection between families and the Heat brand
  • Expand the baseball community and long-term participation base

We are trying to build better athletes, better teammates and better young people.

FAQs

Who is the Academy for?

The Academy is designed for motivated players aged 9–14 who want to improve their skills, understanding of the game and overall athletic development.

It is not limited to “elite” players. The focus is on building strong fundamentals, confidence and long-term development using Perth Heat coaching expertise and high-performance systems, and having fun while doing it!

What days and times will weekly sessions take place?

Session days and times will be confirmed once registrations are finalised.

We are currently taking registrations to determine participation numbers, preferred locations and scheduling. This allows us to build a structured program that works for the majority of families.

If we are unable to find a suitable alignment for your athlete, a full refund will be provided.

Where will the sessions be held?

Locations will be confirmed following the registration period. The southern hub will be the Rockingham Baseball Club.

We are planning to operate across multiple Perth locations (including northern suburbs and NSR Hire Ballpark), however final venues will be based on registration demand to ensure accessibility and quality delivery.

What if my athlete has other winter sport commitments?

The Perth Heat Academy actively encourages multi-sport participation. Well-rounded athletes develop stronger movement patterns, reduce injury risk and build greater long-term performance capacity.

The program is designed to complement winter sports and scheduling will reflect this where possible.

How does the Academy operate during Term 4?

Term 4 shifts to a more strength and conditioning-focused model, while still maintaining baseball-specific elements. This approach is designed to support athletes during the club season, working around game and training commitments while continuing to build athletic foundations and durability.

What level of experience is required?

Players should have a basic understanding of baseball through tee ball or club participation.

The program is designed to support a range of ability levels, with structured progression to help each athlete develop at the right pace.

How many sessions are included?

The program runs across Terms 2–4 and includes weekly structured sessions, alongside additional development opportunities such as scrimmage days and ongoing performance support.
